eXtended Reality Centre

Dive into the future: where innovation meets imagination

At the eXtended Reality Centre (XRC), we explore real and virtual worlds, using digital technology to solve the problems that matter and transform how we live, learn, and interact.

Our goal is to help achieve change in faster, smarter, cheaper and safer ways by fusing creative arts, science, and the latest technologies to tackle the big issues. Using Extended Reality allows us to mirror the physical world and take an idea or imagined state of being and simulate it, manipulate it, and see what happens. It means we can remove distance and create parity by collaborating more easily and in real-time.

Extended Reality gives us accuracy and precision and helps safeguard our future decisions.

Keep It Out

The XRC, commissioned by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, developed a cutting-edge 3D animation to educate the public about the serious biosecurity risks associated with importing plants and animals into Australia. The Visualisation of Exotic Pests & Diseases animation, created by the XRC, effectively communicated complex information and was recognized with a Silver award in the Education & Infographics category at the AEAF Awards 2023.

Stock Containment

The XRC collaborated with the Southern NSW Innovation Hub to develop and implement a cutting-edge Stock Containment information system utilising immersive 360° virtual tours. This innovative project was accessible across various platforms and showcased in live demonstrations at the high-profile Henty Field Days, providing attendees with a firsthand experience of this groundbreaking technology.

Safety Training

The ChemCERT Training Group partnered with the XRC to develop state-of-the-art online training modules focused on chemical storage and transport. The immersive 360° learning platform features interactive elements, such as comparative demonstrations highlighting best practices and common pitfalls.
